Dr. Kawesch opened his refractive surgery practice in Northern California in 1992. His original clinic was a small facility in Santa Clara. In 1994, he opened an office in Oakland, and relocated this to Danville a year later. In the "early years" the procedures performed were radial keratotomy (RK), astigmatic keratotomy (AK), and automated lamellar keratoplasty (ALK, a precursor to LASIK). Dr. Kawesch opened the first excimer laser center for LASIK and PRK in the South Bay, in early 1996, with a facility on Winchester Boulevard in San Jose. By 1999, his practice had grown to the point that larger centers were needed, so he moved his South Bay location to its current site, a 13,000 square foot state-of-the-art center on Saratoga Avenue. Simultaneously, he moved the Danville location to a larger 5,500 square foot facility in Pleasanton. |
